ADHD Managing Hyper-focused, First or Nothing Else

As a sales manager, you likely have a few team members with excellent focus and incredible abilities to land new deals. These hunters are your front-line soldiers and will adapt, maneuver, and win in environments that are seemingly straightforward for them. It is as if they are programmed to glide effortlessly through obstacles, overcome any barriers, and complete the task while other teammates review their strategies to engage. A hyper-focused salesperson will be first or nothing else.

They can also be challenging to manage or to comply with the rules. You may ask that your team advise on their sales plans, enter data into the CRM, or provide weekly report updates. You will manage the activities, avoid channel conflicts, and keep top management informed of their progress. You will also need to monitor the few who are bothered by reporting but still deliver results. A hyper-focused salesperson will view the reports as a waste of time and wonder about the lost time spent typing up a plan rather than executing it directly. Adding this paragraph to the end of the ADHD topic is not by accident. Yes, you can be hyper-focused without ADHD; in fact, this is a salesperson's natural gift. It is only one symptom; however, it is also more common in folks with ADHD.
